The American Flag 22″x22″
the modern day American Flag was approved in 1912. Mr. Berger's flag represented in this painting seems to have dust and smoke swirling about it. With the preamble of the US Consititution included this painting seems to be shouting freedom. This painting intentionally does not show stars on it so it can not be dated. The artist wanted it to be up to the viewer to decide if the smokey look makes it easier to think that this flag may be flying over Iwo Jima during the 1942 battle. It may also be the flag the survived the World Trade Center attack in 2001. It is up to the viewer to decide.

Appeal To Heaven Flag 22″x22″
The "Appeal To Heaven" flag and it's variations were flown before and during the American Revolution. The flag's origins began when a group called The Son's Of Liberty wold rally under a large pine tree in Boston known as the "Liberty Tree". The phrase "Appeal to Heaven" comes from John Locke's Two Treatises of Government.
