W. A. Frost located in St. Paul Minnesota is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle of the city. Summer or winter the atmosphere is wonderful and so is the people watching and this painting is indicates the romantic couple pictured could be dancing a tango but what kind of tango is really up to your imagination when a sax and bagpipe are involved.

Another Minnesota landmark in downtown St. Paul. Mickey's Diner has been serving hot food for a long time and it's hard to miss it especially at night. A  little fun was had with this image and people ask why the bear? The question is why not?

There is only one place to visit if you go to the University of Minnesota campus and that is Annie's Parlor. For many alumnae this is where they still gather. This print is a signed Giclee and it is produced on fine art canvas. I frequented Annie's Parlor years ago after many Minnesota football games. It has a nice view of downtown Minneapolis that I included in the painting. Why cattle? Murray's legendary restaurant in downtown Minneapolis is home to the legendary   "butter Knife Steak". This is a 22"x22" Giclee print signed on canvas. A Minneapolis landmark is the Monte Carlo Restaurant. I love the atmosphere there and especial the food. In painting Minneapolis landmarks the Monte had to be a part of the series. I had another view that included the building but I found the sign much more interesting to paint. The paintings title is "Monte Carlo Dreaming" and signed Giclee canvas prints are available now.

Another Minnesota Warehouse District landmark Bunkers bar, grill and music is still one of the greatest places in town to hear down to earth great live music in a relaxed atmosphere. This painting was meant to be fun to look at and make the viewer wonder what is going on in this piece.

Gluek's Bar & Grill in downtown Minneapolis survived a fire and came back better than the original building. This long time Minneapolis favorite serves great dinner and beer.  The original painting of this measures 32"x16" and prints measure 10"x22". Gluek's has a German heritage theme and that is why the accessories in the artwork created feature things German. Each featured local landmark in this series  has it's own aura about it and this is what came up for Gluek's.  This is a signed Giclee print on canvas.

"JD Hoyt's" which is another longtime Twin Cities favorite is located on Washington Avenue in the warehouse district in downtown Minneapolis. You can be casual, formal or whatever, it really does not matter. The atmosphere here is definitely fun and the people watching is as good as the food is great. There are two versions of this painting and this is the one that was chosen for prints.  What exactly is this painting trying to convey? Maybe a nod, a wink, a subtle look but most assuredly a lot more substance behind the quiet demeanor. Thats the best I can do for a description.

Nye's is a favorite for locals in North East Minneapolis looking for some unique atmosphere and believe me Nye's has plenty. When visiting Nye's you are never quite sure what form of entertainment will assault your eyes and ears next. For years Nye's Polynaise room has been just a fun place to have few drinks and enjoy some fantastic local "Nordeast" food.
What's happening in this painting? That is for you the viewer to decide. "What just happened in this picture"? You decide, I think depending on your emotional state it will vary each time you view this painting. That is what makes this painting so much fun, its a story waiting to be told by you. If you visit Nye's remember customers usually ask themselves the same question when they leave, "what just happened in there?" That pretty well sums up the paintings meaning. This piece is trying to convey the down home atmosphere of the cafe but most importantly a bit of intrigue was added to the painting. Celebrities, professional athletes and a variety of very interesting "B" bit players  frequented the Loon over the years and great conversations and beers with all of them is always fun. That is why the woman at the front door in the cowboy hat is important to this painting. She seems to sum up the Loon's atmosphere. Because you never know who you will meet at the loon it was important for her to be looking back over her shoulder with that look of "y'all come on in".

The Fine Line over the years has had some of the best live music performances in the Twin Cities. Because of the venues played at the Fine Line it was difficult to visually depict a category of music played there.

This painting started with sketches of  musical instruments in it but struggled with who or what to be included in the painting that would signify all the different kinds of music played at the Fine Line. The painting ended up with this view that includes of course the outside of the Fine Line featuring their logo but also  adding a young woman dressed creatively suggesting that she is a talent but what kind of musician is she a singer, bass player, drummer? Who knows?

Finally the final touch, adding a very happy romping dog carrying a tune in its head seemed to fit the message I was trying to convey. Who knows  what tune it  it would probably vary to the personality of the dog. Thus the paintings title "Everyone Runs To A Different Tune" seems to wrap up the visual in a nice package.

Travail is located in downtown Robbinsdale and has been named as one of the top 25 restaurants in the nation. The food and atmosphere is great. The name is definitely unique but the lack of a dynamic exterior forced me to come up with a unique scene going on in the front of this restaurant to make the painting interesting to look at. This is what I came up with and visually I believe I achieved my goal of making the painting say something, to someone.

Another in a series of American Icons from the automotive industry. Cheverolet's Chevelle was "the" muscle car to have.

Route 66 has a place in all car enthusiasts mind as the place to hit the open road and discover America. This art reflects that mentality. This is a Giclee print produced  on a quality art canvas.

A painting of the wooden steamboat Minnehaha. This boat was built in 1906and would cruise beautiful lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. The boat was sunk in 1926 and stayed on the bottom of lake Minnetonka until the early 1990's when she was discovered again and raised and retrofitted to again cruise lake Minnetonka.

Britt's Pub in downtown Minneapolis is a legendary place to gather no matter where you are from, as the image in this painting begs to answer "how far did she travel"?  It also  helps if you have an English accent.
