This covered bridge was one of the six remaining covered bridges of Madison County, Iowa. 76 feet long, it was built in 1883 by Benton Jones over Cedar creek north of the county seat of Winterset. In 2002 this bridge was destroyed by fire and was replaced in 2004. The new bridge was based on old blueprints and photos of the original bridge, using as authentic to the original construction methods as possible.

Acrylic painting of a grove nestled in the countryside.

Any one who has spent some time on the farm always knew where to find a grove of trees by stream on a hot summer day. In the canopy of leaves you could always see different shapes while you day dreamed. Sighed Giclee Print.

A painting for the farm series is a study of determination. It shows a young girl leading a pair of draft horses through a field. The plow behind them is unattended but it matters little to this group. judging by the clouds on the horizon a storm is either coming or has just passed so it’s anyone’s guess on just exactly what led up to what is going on in this scene. This signed 16×20 Giclee print is now available and so is the original painting.

This colorful summer time piece features a girl in a field picking flowers with the ever present flying terror of the fields hovering nearby. Is the bee zooming in on her arm or the batch of flowers she is holding? We will know soon enough.

A beautiful summer day is depicted here. The only thing that remains of the farm is this small shed. This scene is duplicated all over the midwest, remains of farms slowly dwindling back into the landscape. Makes you wonder what happened and the history of the homestead. The Split Rock Light House On Lake Superior is an Icon that has long held it’s own majestic presence towering above the lake. This 16×20″ signed piece captures a summer day with a little girl feeding gulls and enjoying the view.

This 14×16 giclee print is signed and features the Grand Marais lighthouse sitting at the end of a pier overlooking downtown Grand Marais. This piece titled “God’s light” features a summer night with a full moon glowing over Lake Superior.

This 16″ x 22″ print is titled “Witchtree Maiden”. This knarly conifer has watched the history of the lake from its spot growing right out of the rock on the edge of lake Superior. It is called by the Ojibwe “Manidoo-giizhikens” or “Little Spirit Tree”. The earliest record of this tree is by the French explorer Sieur de la Verendrye in 1731 who commented on the tree as a mature tree at that time, making it at least 300 years old. Because it is held as sacred by the Ojibwe they still leave offerings of tobacco as the voyagers and their ancestors did hundreds of years ago to ensure a safe journey on Lake Superior. If you look closely at this painting you may see a maiden watching over the lake.
